At the invitation of the Peruvian government and in light of its current needs, the Chinese government sent a medical team to Peru to help the country fight COVID-19.
The medical team arrived in Lima, the country's capital, on May 23.
Chinese Ambassador to Peru Liang Yu, Peruvian Health Minister Víctor Zamora and a representative of the international anti-pandemic cooperation working team of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru welcomed the Chinese experts at the airport.

Zamora thanked China for sending the expert team and said that since the pandemic outbreak China has provided Peru with strong and comprehensive support. It has effectively improved Peru's anti-pandemic capability for which Peru is deeply grateful. The arrival of the Chinese experts will further help Peru learn from China's experience, lift its response capability and help it to defeat the virus at an early date.
The four-member team covers respiratory treatment, critical care, infection management and neurology. During their stay, the Chinese experts will carry out exchanges and field investigations with their Peruvian counterparts regarding COVID-19 prevention and control, diagnosis and treatment, patient care and laboratory analysis.
