BR editorial board holds 5th meeting in Beijing

Members of the editorial board of Biophysics Reports exchange views at the Feb 4 meeting.

The fifth domestic editorial board meeting of the journal Biophysics Reports (BR) was held on Feb 4 at the Institute of Biophysics (IBS) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). IBS member and Editor-in-Chief Xu Tao presided over the meeting which was also shown live.

The journal BR is a periodical of the Biophysical Society of China (BSC) supervised by the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) and sponsored by the IBS.

The meeting summed up the BR's operation in 2020 and outlined its development plan for the next year. 

The person in charge of the journal at the Department of Science Communication outlined the BR's work progress in 2020, including publication, solicitation and paper citation as well as its budgetary situation, including revenue and expenditure. 

He also put forward the prospects for 2021, which will focus on the application of the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI), the development of special issues and optimizing submissions management.

Participants present and online analyzed the existing problems of the journal, put forward constructive suggestions and opinions, and set a target for soliciting contributions.

At the meeting, Xu also announced the winners of the 2020 Outstanding Contribution Awards and honored the selected 2020 Excellent Editorial Board Member and the Best Paper of 2020.

BR is an international open-access journal launched in 2015. It publishes novel theories, methods, protocols and significant improvements in basic research techniques in multidisciplinary areas of the biological and biomedical sciences.

The journal welcomes submissions on methods and techniques including but not limited to those used in biophysics, cell biology, immunology, membrane biology, redox biology, photobiology, neurobiology, oncology, biochemistry, biomechanics and mechanobiology, structural biology, molecular imaging, electron microscopy, computational biology, bioinformatics, nano biomedicine, genetics, model organisms, protein science, developmental biology, and omics.
