The 3rd Online Forum for Yongding River Culture opened in Daxing district of Beijing on Oct 30, aiming to showcase notable achievements made by the district in the ecological conservation of the Yongding River, the promotion of local cultural heritage, the development of scientific and technological innovation, and the improvement of the wellbeing of the people.

Over the years, Daxing has made great strides in the all-round governance and ecological restoration of the Yongding River. With the dramatic improvement of its ecological environment, the district has attracted nearly 200 wild birds and animals, including rare and endangered wild species such as the reed parrotbill and yellow-breasted bunting.

The district has incorporated scientific and technological development as well as its cultural industries in the pursuit of high-quality development, and a green and low-carbon transformation.

The Daxing-based national new media industrial base has created a special cultural and technological fund worth five billion yuan (about $ 806.5 million) to facilitate the building of a metaverse-oriented building complex and support the development of the digital economy.

Daxing has also built the first hydrogen energy industrial area, known as the Daxing International Hydrogen Energy Demonstration Zone, in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. A total of 139 enterprises, including hydrogen fuel-cell engine maker Beijing SinoHytec Co, Beijing Wenli Technologies and Beijing Heracles Novel Technology, have registered in or established new branches in the zone.

To build the area into a new gate for Beijing to take part in international cultural exchanges, Daxing has promoted the building of the Beijing Daxing International Airport Economic Zone (Daxing) and a functional consumption area of international convention & exhibition along the Yongding River.

Speaking during an interview, Quan Xing, head of the international business planning department of Beijing New Aerotropolis, a company responsible for the Beijing Daxing International Airport Economic Zone, said that the special area is positioned to become a center characterized with airport-railway integrated transport, Chinese culture, an innovation-driven airport economy, ecological and smart living standards, and international exchanges.
