Daxing biomedical cluster rises above COVID-19 woes
The Daxing biomedical base in Beijing signed a group of contracts on Dec 30 to promote the local pharmaceutical industry and the building of "two districts"-- the Beijing Free Trade Zone and a national integrated demonstration zone to open the services sector wider.
Thirty enterprises were signed during the event, including bio-pharmaceuticals, traditional Chinese medicine providers, medical apparatus and instrument suppliers and service platforms.
They will help the Daxing district to build a 100 billion yuan ($15.32 billion)-level medical and health industrial cluster by accelerating localization of high-end medical equipment and transformation of traditional Chinese medicine.

In 2020, against a background of regular epidemic prevention and control, the medical hubbucked the trend and ushered in a breakthrough development.
A Chinese medical preparation, the Lianhua-Qingwen Capsule of Yiling Pharmaceutical was recommended as a therapeutic drug by the National Health Commission. Biosis Healing exported medical masks and protective clothing to Europe and America, and Sinovac's COVID-19 vaccine entered mass-production.
Meanwhile, enterprises in the Daxing biomedical base donated 60 million yuan to win the anti-epidemic war, demonstrating their social responsibility.
In recent years, the district has always prioritized introducing high-tech industries and accelerating project construction. The projects have been signed and started production successively, which played an important role in stabilizing growth, optimizing structure and benefiting people's livelihoods.
According to the meeting, the cluster will start by strengthening the list management to create a more attractive business environment and by providing nanny-style services for enterprises.
