Daxing offers coupons to encourage Singles Day spending

Beijing's Daxing district distributed consumption coupons worth 6 million yuan ($905,965.17) through its e-commerce platform on Nov 10.

The move was to benefit enterprises and residentsandstimulatelocal consumption in the lead up to the "Double 11" shopping festival, or Singles Day, which falls on Nov 11 every year.

Each mobile phone subscriber could receive 10 coupons every three days. A single order could use at most five coupons, and the maximum concession was 500 yuan. Among them, the two-tier coupons worth10 yuan and 100 yuan could not be used together.

The discount activity covered a range of businesses – including catering, entertainment, leisure, sports and department stores – in almost all major business areas in Daxing to meet consumers' diverse needs.

Local businesses placed publicity materials in their stores. The merchants also trained employees on how to guide customers to receive coupons and use them in advance.

Traders said the promotional activity was a positive step to drive sales and encourage customers to increase their consumption and spend more money.
