The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei regional trial for the 2020 Robotex Competition opened in Beijing’s Daxing district on Oct 1.

This year’s event lasted for two days and has attracted more than 1,000 entrants from across the country. New contest items such as women’s firefighting and a cross-country rally are on tap. Candidates will also compete in classic items including smart construction, sumo and line-tracking.

In addition to competitions, the event also offers online exhibition and offline experience areas for China’s high-end equipment manufacturing.

The exhibition will provide trading services for more than 1,000 exhibitors from all over the country, and offline roadshows will showcase VR/AR experiencing of the Winter Olympics, STEAM education, 5G technology application and AI innovation.

People from all walks of life can visit and learn about various products and technologies in the exhibition area, which is a communication platform for science popularization, academia and industry.

Zhao Jieying, president of the Beijing Organizing Committee of Robotex, hopes to promote China's robot education through the competition, cultivate technological elites, and boost China’s artificial intelligence industry.

“Robotex is not only going to be a robotic event in China, but also the one most focused on a smart and interconnected life, which will help people come together and increase their happiness by broadening horizons and enhancing interactions,” said Zhao.

The competition is an annual event for robot enthusiasts from 4 to 60 years old around the world. About 10,000 teams from more than 50 countries participate in trials at all levels. It has been held in China three consecutive times, and is the top event with the largest scale and the richest international elements in the field.
