Beijing Institute of Petrochemical Technology
Beijing Institute of Petrochemical Technology (BIPT) is a regular institution of higher education, co-constructed by the Central Government and Beijing Municipal Government, and administrated mainly by Beijing Municipal Government.
BIPT was established in 1978. With the proceeding of China's reform and opening-up, it has developed into a regular institution of higher learning, which is capable of fitting in with both the demands of China's core industries such as petro-chemical industry, industry of energy equipments and that of the economic and social development of Beijing. With great strength in school-running, it enjoys high reputation among universities and colleges administrated by Beijing Municipality. BIPT takes engineering as its key discipline while exploring the inter-penetrating and coordinative development of the disciplines of science, engineering, economics, management and arts.
At present, BIPT boasts 10 teaching units, with 23 specialties offering undergraduate courses. The 10 teaching units are Chemical Engineering College, Mechanical Engineering College, Information Engineering College, Economics and Management College, Humanities and Social Science College, Material Science and Engineering Department, Foreign Languages Department, Physics and Mathematics Department, Section of Physical Education, and Engineering Education Center.
In the past 30 years, BIPT has been bearing a spirit of being practical and realistic, advancing in the pace of the era, being diligent and earnest to work, and keeping unrelenting effort. It seizes every opportunity to develop and strives to make innovations, thus making noticeable achievements in reforming and growth. It has won titles of A Technology, Culture, Hygiene and Sports, Advanced Unit of Social Practice of Universities and Colleges of Beijing, Advanced Unit of Community Volunteers of Beijing, Excellent Home of Educational Staff of Beijing, Civilized Campus of Beijing, etc. BIPT has been contributing a lot in terms of offering talents and intelligence assistance to the economic construction and social development of the state.
