[How to use your Beijing Transportation Smart Card]

I. Public trams and buses

1. You can enjoy the corresponding discount when you take public trams and buses.

2. Swipe your card once you board, and the fare will be deducted when you take single-ticket trams and buses.

3. You must swipe the card when you get on and off the bus in trams and buses with segmented pricing systems. The first swipe marks the time and the second swipe deducts the fare from the card.

II. Rail transit

1.  The fare for single-ticket rail transit (including the airport line) is charged according to rail transit card regulations.

2. You must swipe the card when you enter and exit the station. The first swipe marks the time and the second swipe deducts the receivable from the card.

III. Taxi

You must swipe the card when exiting. The fare will be deducted from your card.

IV. Parks and resorts

You must swipe the card at the entrance. The fare will be deducted from your card.

V. Line S2

You must swipe the card at each entrance and exit. The fare will be deducted from your card.

VII. Relevant regulations

1. If the card balance is insufficient to pay the current fare, but is greater than or equal to the discounted amount of the lowest fare of this line when you take trams and buses, the card can be used for the overdraft. You should reload the card or pay with cash if the balance in the card is lower than the one-way minimum fare when you take rail transit.

2. Do not overdraw when you take a taxi. When the balance in the card is insufficient to pay for the ride, the difference should be paid by another card or paid in cash.

3. Overdraft is not available in other areas.
