On Nov 12, Merck held a signing ceremony in Wuxi New District for its Milli-Q laboratory water solutions manufacturing facility.
Following its factory in Molsheim, France, this is the second overseas factory for Merck's Milli-Q lab water solutions, a key division of its life science segment and a globally recognized brand used in industries including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, food and beverage, and energy.
Jean-Charles Wirth, executive vice-president and head of Science & Lab Solutions at Merck Life Science, expressed confidence in the investment, citing WND's robust economic growth, strong industrial base, and business-friendly environment. The district's high-quality living environment, talent pool, and extensive supply chain network provide ideal conditions for localization and growth, he added.
Qin Yongxin, vice-mayor of Wuxi, reaffirmed the city's commitment to supporting Merck's endeavors by creating opportunities for deeper collaboration. He encouraged Merck to transfer more high-tech products to Wuxi for production, further driving the city's manufacturing sector.
This expansion further builds on Merck's long-standing presence in Wuxi, where Sigma-Aldrich (Wuxi) Life Science & Technology, a key subsidiary of Merck Life Science, has operated since 2012. The Wuxi facility serves as Merck's Asia-Pacific hub for biochemical reagents and single-use technology products.
