Wuxi National Hi-Tech District, also known as Wuxi New District, has once again been recognized as a leading hub for MEMS (micro-electromechanical systems) sensor technology, securing the third spot in the nation for three years in a row, as revealed in a report released by CCID Consulting at the 6th China MEMS Intelligent Sensor Industry Development Conference.
The assessment took into consideration the industrial competitiveness, supporting facilities, and regional advantages of each candidate. Specific criteria included industry growth rate, output value, innovation capability, industrial chain completeness, and policy support.
In recent years, WND has concentrated on attracting enterprises in the intelligent sensor industry and creating an ecosystem integrating high-end product manufacturing, research and development, software algorithms and other applications. In 2023, the scale of core businesses in WND's intelligent sensor industry exceeded 10 billion yuan ($1.38 billion), accounting for over 40 percent of Wuxi's total.
