A delegation led by Jesse Armendarez, member of the Board of Supervisors and Second District supervisor of San Bernardino County, California, the United States, visited the Wuxi National Hi-Tech District on March 21 in a bid to foster further cooperation between the two regions.

During their meeting, Zhang Jinwei, deputy head of the administrative committee of the Wuxi National Hi-Tech District, expressed hope for friendly exchanges and cooperation between San Bernardino and the district across economic, cultural, and social spheres.

He highlighted that the high-tech district has established six landmark industries, including the internet of things, integrated circuits, biomedicine, and new energy. Notably, its integrated circuit and IoT industries respectively account for one-ninth and one-tenth of the national total in their respective fields.

Serving as a primary hub for foreign investment in Wuxi, the district hosts numerous high-quality foreign-funded enterprises, including 65 Fortune 500 companies, among which many are from the US, added Zhang.

Armendarez was impressed with the district's robust industrial foundation and advanced educational experience. He emphasized the importance of establishing regular and sustainable communication channels to promote bilateral trade and achieve mutual development.

San Bernardino County, a sister city of Wuxi, is located in the southeastern part of California. It forms the second-largest metropolitan area in Southern California along with neighboring Riverside County, boasting strong logistics, biomedicine, and retail industries.
