On Jan 24, the inauguration ceremony for the Wuxi Synthetic Biology Industrial Park was held in Wuxi National Hi-Tech District, also known as Wuxi New District.
The park, which has a total investment of 660 million yuan ($92.46 million), commenced construction in the Taihu Bay Sci-Tech Innovation City in January 2024 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2025. It covers a planned construction area of 25,723 square meters and is designed as a comprehensive platform integrating production, research and development, office spaces, and residential facilities.
Chen Jian, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and former President of Jiangnan University, emphasized that the Wuxi Synthetic Biology Industrial Park focuses on the development and application of synthetic biology technology in biomedicine, food, materials, and other fields. The team from Jiangnan University will facilitate the commercialization of more research results in WND.
Several enterprises, including Carcell Biopharma and Vland Biotech, signed agreements to operate in the park during the inauguration ceremony.
Also during the event, a strategic cooperation agreement was signed between the China Development Bank and WND. The China Development Bank will provide professional and efficient financing services for the synthetic biology industrial park and support the high-quality development of the technology industry in WND.
