Established in 2023, the Wuxi Symphony Orchestra has emerged as a dynamic force within the Chinese music scene. It is dedicated to promoting classical music, showcasing professional musical craftsmanship, and enriching the cultural life of Wuxi residents.
The orchestra initiated a global recruitment drive in March which has drawn enthusiastic responses from musicians worldwide. The ensemble currently comprises players from top-tier arts institutions at home and abroad, with some members being chief and assistant principal players from globally-renowned orchestras.
The Wuxi Symphony Orchestra is set to make its grand debut at the New Year Concert on Jan 1, 2024. It also plans to embark on Asian and European tours, hosting a variety of concerts and participating in a diverse array of events such as large-scale symphonic performances, chamber music ensembles, and solo instrument performances. The goal is to disseminate Chinese musical culture worldwide.
The orchestra aims to collaborate with renowned conductors and soloists from home and abroad in order to give audiences a spectacular musical experience. It is also committed to engaging in social welfare activities and promoting arts education, with the aim of contributing to the advancement of China's music industry.
