The Wuxi Symphony Orchestra welcomed Munich Philharmonic, a renowned 130-year-old German symphony orchestra, on Dec 2.

Five distinguished section leaders and performers from the Munich Philharmonic, including violinist Zhou Qi, oboe principal Andrey Godik, and trumpet principal Alexandre Baty, conducted training sessions for members of the Wuxi Symphony Orchestra and gained insights into the current state and development of Chinese symphonic music. Mutual understanding and acknowledgment blossomed among the artists, transcending cultural boundaries through the universal language of music.

Founded in 1893, the Munich Philharmonic is one of Germany's oldest symphony orchestras and enjoys international acclaim. It was also one of the first international orchestras to perform works by A'Bing, a Wuxi-born expert in traditional Chinese music who specializes in the erhu, a two-stringed instrument.

The Wuxi Symphony Orchestra is gearing up for its New Year's Concert debut on January 1, 2024.
