An industrial cooperation conference involving major Japanese companies based in the Wuxi National High-tech District, or Wuxi New District, in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province was held on Nov 21 in Shanghai.

Over 100 high-level executives from the China headquarters of Japanese multinational companies and representatives from large Japanese business associations participated in the event.

During the conference, the Japanese Enterprises (Wuxi) Cooperation and Exchange Center, which is affiliated with the China-Asia Economic Development Association, was inaugurated. The center aims to leverage the strengths of the association to facilitate the introduction of high-quality resources from Japan, particularly in the fields of industry and innovation, into WND. It is expected to foster close collaboration between Chinese and Japanese enterprises along the industrial chain, innovation chain, and supply chain.

Yoichiro Mori, deputy consul general of Japan in Shanghai, expressed appreciation in his address for the favorable business environment that the WND has provided to Japanese enterprises since its establishment in 1992. He pledged continued efforts to strengthen communication with local governments, support development of Japanese enterprises in China, and contribute to the economic development of both nations.

Currently, WND is home to nearly 400 Japanese enterprises, constituting 40 percent of the total in Wuxi. Notably, 52 Fortune Global 500 Japanese multinational corporations have invested over $12 billion in the district and achieved total revenue of 130 billion yuan ($18.24 billion). As a result, WND has become the largest gathering ground for Japanese enterprises in terms of revenue in Jiangsu.
