GEM (Wuxi) Energy Materials Co Ltd, located in Shuofang sub-district of Wuxi National Hi-tech District, or Wuxi New District (WND), in Wuxi, Jiangsu province is a leader in recycling and circular economy.

The company is a subsidiary of GEM (green, eco, and manufacture) Group, which was established in 2001 and currently owns 19 industrial parks worldwide with an annual waste recycling capacity of 10 million metric tons.

By turning waste into valuable resources, GEM Wuxi generated annual revenue of over 7 billion yuan ($962.06 million) in 2022. One of the company's standout achievements is the production of high-performance recycled plastic pellets, which have found their way into the supply chains of Fortune Global 500 companies, with wide applications in household appliances, automobiles, packaging, furniture, and construction materials.

Another eco-friendly innovation is "plastic wood", a material created by combining plastic waste with wood powder and straw. As it is more corrosion-resistant and durable than natural wood, plastic wood has been used as a sustainable alternative in flooring, bridges, chairs, and tables.

In a park in Shuofang, there is a large sculpture made by GEM called the "Green Giant". It is made up of over 600 components recycled from old new energy vehicles, gasoline-powered cars, and power batteries. The "Green Giant" emits 11.25 tons fewer carbon dioxide than a steel sculpture of the same weight.

The third phase of GEM's circular economy and low-carbon industry demonstration park in Wuxi was recently completed. The park is set to recycle 100,000 tons of power batteries and 100,000 new energy vehicles per year.
