The Industrial Talent Training Institute in Wuxi National Hi-tech District, which is also known as Wuxi New District, opened its summer course on July 10.

The summer course will focus on four sectors – integrated circuit design and manufacturing, intelligent equipment, internet of things, and digitalization. Eight hundred students from domestic and overseas universities will participate in a range of activities, including theoretical lectures, visits to companies, talent-company matchmaking sessions, as well as classes on the history and culture of Wuxi and WND.

The institute and Fudan University in Shanghai also started piloting a credit recognition scheme this year.

Liu Haoran, a student from the University of Hong Kong, said he hopes to master important tools used in IC design and learn about the industry's development trends through the training program.

To ensure the success of the summer course, executives from several prominent companies in WND, including Etek Microelectronics and Autowell, have been appointed as head teachers of the summer course.

Yuan Minmin, chairman and general manager of Etek Microelectronics, said the course has attracted young students from various universities to the district, which will help companies recruit talent.
