WND hosts symposium for Jiangsu, HK cooperation

An investment promotion symposium was held both online and onsite in the Wuxi National Hi-tech District on Nov 23.

The event, sponsored by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Commerce, was the third of its kind to promote cooperation between Jiangsu and Hong Kong with a focus on seizing new green economy investment opportunities.

The symposium aimed to attract more investment from European and American headquarters enterprises in Hong Kong.

Sun Jin, deputy director of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Commerce, said that Hong Kong is the largest source of foreign capital and the largest destination of overseas investment in Jiangsu province.

According to Sun, as of September this year, 33,600 Hong Kong enterprises were operating in Jiangsu, with $241.5 billion in Hong Kong capital actually used, accounting for 52 percent of all actual used foreign capital in the province. 

Sun added that with continuous improvement of cooperation between Jiangsu and Hong Kong is expected to promote the development of industrial chains and cooperation between companies in the two regions.

Through the event, local Wuxi companies were able to learn more about the latest policies in Hong Kong and the development trends of investment in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) matters. They also discussed in depth how enterprises in the Chinese mainland can take advantage of Hong Kong's green finance and move towards sustainable development.
