More than 107,000 batteries were installed in two six-story buildings in Xingzhou Industrial Park, Wuxi National Hi-tech District, in order to meet high electricity demand during summer.
The large-scale energy storage power station has an energy production capacity of 20 megawatts and output of 160 MWh. It is currently the largest domestic commercial energy storage power station.
The power station adopted the method of "charging" at low valleys and "discharging" at peaks to transfer electricity load during high-temperature periods this summer. During scorching days in August, the power station was basically "discharged" once every day or two, meeting the area’s electricity needs for more than 10 straight days. It released around 600,000 kWh of electricity throughout August, according to a manager.

As the oldest industrial park in Wuxi, Xingzhou Industrial Park, founded in 1994, is not only home to energy storage power stations, but also has a forward-looking layout of self-built distribution networks. It is the first incremental distribution network in the province to not be funded by the State Grid, currently provides power to more than 100 industrial enterprises of various sizes.
