Construction started on the second phase of Wuxi's metro line 4 at the Linghu Avenue Station in the Wuxi National Hi-tech District on June 29.
With a total investment of 7 billion yuan ($1.05 billion), the metro line is part of the third phase of Wuxi's urban rail transit construction planning. The construction will last for 48 months.
The metro line is expected to improve the transit network of the Wuxi Economic and Technological Development Zone and Xinwu district in order to drive the economic and social development of regions along the line.

The line will run about 8.3 kilometers with six underground stations running from Wuxi Taihu International Expo Center Station to Xishi Road Station.
The six stations are Ruijing Road Station, Huazhuang Station, Jinghui West Road Station, Linghu Avenue Station, Wuxi New District Station, and Xishi Road Station. The last four stations will be built in Xinwu district.
The Jinghui West Road Station will be located at the intersection of Zhenze Road and Jinghui West Road.
The Linghu Avenue Station will be located at the intersection of Zhenze Road and Linghu Avenue.
The Wuxi New District Station is located on a plot on the southeast side of the intersection of Xinhua Road and Zhujiang Road, where passengers can transfer to line 3.
The Xishi Road Station will be located at the intersection of Xinhua Road and Airport Road.
