Construction started on the Huahong Wuxi Integrated Circuit Ecosphere Science and Technology Park in the Wuxi National Hi-tech District on Dec 23.
The IC industrial park will cover an area of 7.2 hectares with a total construction area of 200,000 square meters. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2023.
Huahong Group, a leading IC enterprise based in Shanghai, has made a number of heavy investments in WND.
The first phase of Huahong Group's IC research and development center, as well as the manufacturing center in the WND, began operating at full capacity in May.
The first phase is now able to produce 40,000 sets of IC chips a month, with a processing technology platform that includes emerging applications like mobile communications, internet of things, smart homes, artificial intelligence, and new energy vehicles.
Officials have said that the new industrial park will take industrial cooperation between Shanghai and Wuxi a step forward.
In addition, Huahong Group launched an IC R&D and manufacturing base project in Wuxi in 2017, resulting in a huge step forward in the development of the WND's IC industry, which exceeded 100 billion yuan ($15.7 billion) this year. The project itself has grown into a cooperation model to support the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region.
