GEM Co, a leading enterprise in the green and low carbon industries, launched a new industrial park for new energy, the circular economy, and low carbon industries in the Wuxi National Hi-tech District on June 7.
The newly-opened industrial park will include a low-carbon technology research and development center, a low-carbon educational base, and an experience zone for low-carbon technologies.
Its work will involve power battery materials, high-value recycling of new energy vehicles, and the recovery, disassembly, and cascade utilization of power batteries.
The industrial park's annual output value is expected to exceed 20 billion yuan ($3.13 billion) over the next five years and it is expected to reduce carbon emissions by more than 2 million tons, according to executives of the company.
WND is stepping up its green and low-carbon development efforts. According to the plan released by WND, by 2025 clean energy is expected to account for 60 percent of Wuxi's power generation.
In April, WND launched its first five hydrogen fuel cell-powered buses and a hydrogen refueling station, marking the beginning of a new zero-carbon green hydrogen demonstration zone.
