WND launches new biomedical R&D center

The new preparation research and development center of WuXi STA, a subsidiary of WuXi AppTec, started operations in Wuxi National Hi-tech District (WND) on May 20.

Located inside the Wuxi base of WuXi STA, the new center covers an area of 11,000 square meters. More than 500 scientists will work in the center for an oral preparation platform, a sterile injection platform, as well as an analysis and testing platform.

The oral preparation research and development platform is equipped with wet and dry granulation systems, capsule and tablet formulation research and development equipment, as well as coating and central control research and development equipment, which supports the research and development process from the pre-clinical to commercial production stages.

The sterile injection platform can provide various filling forms, such as bottles and pre-filled needles, as well as the research and development of freeze-drying technologies.

Executives from the company said that the Wuxi center, together with another similar center located in Shanghai's Waigaoqiao free trade zone, will provide their clients with better services of integrated solutions of preparation.
