Wuxi National Hi-tech District released a series of measures to encourage migrant workers to stay in the city where they are working during the Spring Festival on Jan 18, aiming to strengthen its COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control efforts.
In order to guarantee workers' welfare and enterprises' production during the Spring Festival from Feb 11 to 17, the district will give a one-time reward of 100,000 yuan ($15,461) to industrial enterprises that operate with over 70 percent of their normal workforce daily, as well as record an annual output value of more than 100 million yuan.
In addition, migrant workers who stay in Wuxi and work for three days or more during the Spring Festival will receive a subsidy of 500 yuan each. People in all household registrations can receive a subsidy of 100 yuan each day if they work during the Spring Festival, according to the measures.
Companies are being encouraged to minimize the laying off of workers, organize skill-training courses to workers, and to provide care to people with employment difficulties. Different levels of subsidies will be given to these companies that follow these measures.
The district will also organize cultural and recreational activities during the Spring Festival, as well as guide enterprises to issue red envelopes and make special purchases for workers to celebrate the holiday.
The rewards and subsidies of the policy shall be declared by enterprises from March, and will be given out 10 working days after the application is approved.
