During the forum, heads of the three cities oversaw the commencement of construction on the Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou section of Provincial Highway 340.

Located in southern Jiangsu, the 157-kilometer Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou section of the highway starts from National Highway 204 in Dayi town, Changshu in the east, passes through Wuxi and Changzhou to the west, and ends in Jurong town, Zhenjiang.

Officials have said that the project is expected to significantly shorten travel time between the three cities and advance the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta.

Cooperation in technological innovation was also highlighted at the forum. The three cities plan to work together to develop Taihu Bay into a scientific and technological innovation zone.

The three cities will jointly release technical requirements, organize scientific and technological research at universities and research institutes in the Yangtze River Delta, promote the development of industries such as integrated circuits and biomedicine, and recruit talents and projects to enhance the competitiveness of regional scientific and technological innovation, according to the deal.
