Qifangqiao village, located in Hongshan sub-district of Wuxi's Xinwu district, is recently included in a provincial list of key villages and towns developing rural tourism.
According to the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, the listed towns and villages will receive priority treatment in project construction, brand building, marketing and credit support, as the province aims to improve the quality of rural tourism and develop more related tourism products.
Qifangqiao village is famous as the former residence of Chinese scholar Qian Mu (1895-1900) and Qian Weichang (1912-2010), two of the most prominent scholars in Jiangnan -- the Yangtze River Delta region that has been eulogized by many generations of poets.
It is also known for its attractive natural scenery and tasty Hongshan grapes, making it a popular summer tourist destination.
