Wuxi competition supports innovation and entrepreneurship

The 6th Sunan Global Maker Contest and the 2020 China Wuxi Science and Technology Innovative Entrepreneurship Competition came to a close in Wuxi National Hi-tech District (WND) on Sept 2.

The contest, which started in early July, consisted of more than 20 events such as presentations, investment matchmaking sessions, entrepreneurship training camps, and financial matchmaking salons.

Following several rounds of roadshows, 43 projects by 445 domestic and overseas registered enterprises and teams won awards in the final. WND firms (projects) took home one quarter of the total awards, more than any other area in Wuxi.

This year's event was held both online and offline in light of the COVID-19 epidemic and aimed to seek out talent in Wuxi. The contest focused on seven strategic emerging industries, including new-generation information technology, biomedicine, high-end equipment manufacturing, new materials, new energy, new energy vehicles, energy conservation and environmental protection.

Founded in 2018, the China Wuxi Science and Technology Innovative Entrepreneurship Competition seeks to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship. A total of 15 participants in the 2019 event have started businesses in Wuxi.
