Xinwu's retired doctor volunteers to serve locals

Updated: 2020-06-09

Li Zhengmin, a retired doctor, has been giving free medical consultations in Jixiang community, Wuxi's Xinwu district, every week for eight years.

Jixiang community started providing medical services in 2012, aiming to better take care of the elderly there by helping them check their blood pressure and blood sugar levels. Li and some other retired doctors volunteered to serve the elderly every Tuesday.

Li used an old notebook, one of his precious possessions, to record medical data of about 300 patients he has checked in the community. Locals can compare their data in the notebook with their current condition.

In addition, Li gives regular talks about health and organizes various sports meetings to help improve people's health.

Many young doctors working in Wuxi Xinwu Shuofang Hospital also took part in the volunteer activities with Li, which was greatly appreciated by locals.
