Overseas returnees in the Wuxi National Hi-tech District served as a bridge between overseas Chinese and WND during a live streaming event promoting WND to the world on May 15.

As members of the Western Returned Scholars Association of WND, they shared experiences of studying abroad, starting businesses and living in WND, and interacted with overseas Chinese students.

The event lasted for more than an hour and received about 35,000 views, during which time the long history, rich culture, social and economic development, and favorable policies for investors and talent in WND were promoted.

The event targeted overseas Chinese chambers of commerce and student organizations in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Japan and South Korea.

It is part of efforts by the local government to attract more overseas Chinese to start businesses, invest and live in WND. QR codes to answer related questions were displayed throughout the event.

Viewers also learned about the contributions overseas Chinese and WND have made in the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic as well as how WND has been resuming work.

WND is the first district in Wuxi to set up a Western Returned Scholars Association, which provides a platform for overseas scholars to offer advice related to the district's development and has seen a growing number of returnees from overseas become innovators and entrepreneurs in key industries.
