Jabil Group, one of the world's largest electronics manufacturing service providers, signed an agreement on May 8 to expand its investment in Wuxi to build a 5G intelligent production base in Wuxi National Hi-tech District.
With investments totaling 5 billion yuan ($705 million), the 5G intelligent production base of Jabil Green Point will cover an area of about 200 mu (13.3 hectares) and will produce precision parts for 5G mobile communication terminals.
Jabil Group has invested 10 million yuan into the production and maintenance of communication equipment, data storage equipment, and precision components for mobile communication terminals in Wuxi. Its total sales amounted to about 25 billion yuan in 2019.
Wuxi Mayor Du Xiaogang attended the signing ceremony and expressed his congratulations. He said that the long-term cooperation between Jabil Group and Wuxi has played an important role in helping the city achieve high-quality economic development.
Todd Munson, senior vice president of Jabil Group, said the new projects are expected to aid the development of 5G in Wuxi.
Both sides said they will work to promote the construction and application of the new production base.
