The first trial competition for projects taking part in the 2020 Wuxi Taihu International Innovation Challenge was held online in Wuxi National Hi-tech District on April 21.
Due to the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, 530 overseas projects and 1,213 domestic projects will compete online for 200 spots. The overseas projects are from America, Canada, German, England, and Russia, among other countries.
The competition, which accepted entries until April 20, gathers innovation projects from all over the world related to internet of things, new generation information technology, life technology and advanced manufacturing industries.
The competition is expected to attract more quality projects and talent to help make breakthroughs in key technologies and promote the development of high-tech industries in Wuxi.
Award-winning projects will share a bonus pool of 300,000 yuan ($42,363) and enjoy preferential talent and financial policies if they develop in Wuxi and are valued at least 500,000 yuan.

Wuxi National Hi-tech District is exploring an innovative path for high-quality development and Yangtze River Delta regional integration. Government data show that there are more than 26,000 businesses in Xinwu, including 20 publicly traded companies in China and abroad.
Of those businesses, 1,674 have a registered capital of $32.5 billion from Japanese, South Korean, European and US investors. In addition, 437 have been granted the title of national high-tech enterprise.
Wuxi recently launched a new talent program and various favorable policies for college graduates, aiming to attract elite workers to help boost its modern industry. According to organizers, among the participants are 719 doctoral degree holders, 687 master’s degree holders and 337 undergraduates.
