Four key projects focusing on the internet of things (IoT) and integrated circuits (IC) industries will be carried out in Huihaiwan town, in Wuxi's Xinwu district, after an agreement was reached on March 25.

Covering a planning area of 3.75 square kilometers, Huihaiwan town, built by State-run technology enterprise China Electronics Technology HIK Group (CETHIK), is located in the Xin'an subdistrict of Xinwu district.

Located in the core area of the National Sensor Network and the South Jiangsu National Innovation Demonstration Zone, Huihaiwan town consists of two key IoT demonstration towns together with Hongshan town.

CETHIK signed an agreement in 2017 with the Wuxi municipal government to establish the company's second base, which was supported by China Electronics Technology Group Corporation and the Jiangsu provincial people's government.

With total investment of 2.2 billion yuan ($311 million), construction of CETHIK's Wuxi IoT base will start in June. It is expected to assemble over 200 related companies and attract about 10,000 high-end talents after it starts operations.

The four newly signed projects are all invested in by or are cooperating with CETHIK, and will focus on high-performance computing, semiconductor packaging, smart municipalities, new retail and new manufacturing.

Wuxi Party Secretary Huang Qin said Huihaiwan town plays an important role in the development of the new generation of information technology industries in Wuxi. With the help of CETHIK, about 30 IoT projects and key innovation platforms for the city's IoT development have settled in Wuxi.

Huang also urged all government departments to offer their full support to the project and said he was optimistic about its success.

Chen Zongnian, president of CETHIK, spoke highly of the strong business environment and government services in Wuxi, saying the company will work to provide a favorable environment and to exploit the great potential for the development of both sides through extending the industrial chain.
