WND to carry out 32 major projects in 2020

The commencement ceremony for Wuxi's major 2020 projects, including a manufacturing center construction project by STA Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of WuXi AppTec, was held in the Wuxi National Hi-tech District on Jan 2.

Huang Qin, Wuxi's Party secretary, Du Xiaogang, acting mayor of Wuxi, and Zhang Wei, senior vice president of WuXi AppTec, attended the commencement ceremony.

A total of 185 major projects worth 116.6 billion yuan ($16.74 billion) will be carried out in Wuxi in 2020, of which 46 are worth over 1 billion yuan.

Thirty-two of the projects, costing a total of 28.5 billion yuan, will be undertaken in the Wuxi National Hi-Tech District, more than any other district in Wuxi.

One major project is a manufacturing center to be built by STA Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. The center, receiving a total of 3 billion yuan in investment, will cover an area of 4.4 hectares and is expected to produce 550 million tablets, 1.1 billion capsules, and 75 million vials per year.

STA, which is involved in the life science industry, boasts strong pharmaceutical R&D and manufacturing capabilities and operates in both China and the United States.
