The China Ship Ocean Exploration Technology Industrial Park opened in Wuxi National Hi-tech District on Nov 29.
The park, which received a total of 3.5 billion yuan ($495 million) in investment from China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), will carry out work involving marine exploration and information technology engineering. It will provide services to seven industries, including marine engineering, marine resource exploration, marine information service and control, underwater engineering equipment, and ship operation and support.
CSSC's Haiying Group was the first enterprise to agree to establish operations in the park, and it plans to build a 150,000-square-meter high-end machining center there. Haiying plans to move to WND by the first half of 2020.
Wang Dongjun, Party secretary of the China Shipbuilding Industry System Engineering Research Institute, attended the opening of the park and expressed hope that it would play an important role in exploring and extracting resources from oceans.
WND Director Feng Xiaochun said the government will offer its full support to the development of the new industrial park.
