Wuxi foods tempt crowds in Meicun town

Foodies from far and wide are currently attending the "Taste Meili" Autumn Food Festival which opened at Meili town in Wuxi's Xinwu district, Jiangsu province on Oct 23.

Sponsored by Wuxi municipal bureau of commerce and Wuxi municipal agricultural commission, the event features the dishes and cultural traditions surrounding Wu food, with the aim of building a Jiangnan food brand in the town.

The five-day event has invited 62 restaurants and local bars, including Cai A'shui mutton, Sanfengqiao Wuxi sauce spare ribs, and Sheng Ji rice dumplings, attracting large numbers of local residents keen to taste the delicacies.

During the opening ceremony, Cai A'shui Mutton and Zhang A'pei Butcher's Shop were awarded the designation –– "Wuxi Time-honored Brand".

Meili town will continue to host a series of events over the next two months, including Hongshan Harvesting Festival, where a number of artistic performances are set to be staged, as well as a number of shopping festivals, according to organizers.
