Xinwu district displays Chinese paintings

Wuxi is set to host a series of high-profile art events over the next month as part of the 21st China Shanghai International Arts Festival.

A Chinese painting exhibition featuring over 70 works by 70 artists was already held at the Wuxi Dong Fang Gallery on Oct 19.

The exhibition, marking the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, showcases important moments and transformations throughout the history of Xinwu district's economy, rural revitalization, and culture.

Lu Min, chairman of the Wuxi Municipal Cultural Association, said Wuxi has a long history of Chinese painting and calligraphy and is also the hometown of famous artists such as Gu Kaizhi, Xu Beihong, and Wu Guanzhong.

Lu said the recently-opened 13th National Exhibition of Fine Arts displayed 21 art works from Wuxi, showcasing the city's cultural heritage and innovations.
