Cultural Industry

Wuxi National Hi-tech District (WND) has a history of 3,000 years and it is the birthplace of the Wu Culture. The district is rich in historic and cultural attractions, such as Taibo Tomb, Taibo Temple and Hung Hill Site Museum. The district has the former residences of celebrities, such as Qian Mu (1895-1990), a famous historian in modern China and his nephew Qian Weichang (1912-2010), a scientist and educator in modern China.

The district has a total of 310 cultural enterprises, employing nearly 13,000 people. The emerging cultural industry involves such fields as Internet advertising, e-commerce, Internet information services, video, animation, and games. Traditional cultural industry engages in cultural and leisure tourism and the Erhu culture.

Currently, the output value of Wuxi National Hi-tech District's cultural industry accounts for more than eight percent of its total GDP.
