Wuxi citizens enjoy annual agricultural exhibition

The 13th Wuxi Modern Agricultural Exhibition kicked off last weekend, Sept 8-9.

Li Xiaomin, Party secretary of Wuxi, led a delegation to visit the core demonstration zone featuring the development of modern agricultural in the city.

The zone presented local quality agricultural products in Wuxi and an agricultural plant protection drone.

Li applauded manufacturers for exporting products to 17 countries and encouraged them to work harder in independent research and development to provide more support for the city's agricultural modernization.

Ten youths were chanting for their agricultural products at their stalls to represent young peasants, some of whom are overseas returnees or white-collar workers in foreign-funded firms.

Li encouraged them to seize opportunities presented by China's rural revitalization strategy and supply-side structural reform plan to achieve their life goals while promoting high-quality development for Wuxi's agriculture.

The leader also stressed the role of the quality agricultural products alliance and enterprises in cultivating more Wuxi-based agricultural brands that are famous both at home and abroad.

This year's exhibition consisted of eight central demonstration zones as well as display and sale zones of quality agricultural products from Wuxi and its sister cities, such as Yan’an and Haidong. It gathered more than 200 exhibitors and 2,000 kinds of quality agricultural and sideline products.

It also attracted more than 50,000 visitors and generated a total value of 1.7 million yuan ($250,000).
