To further strengthen innovation cooperation between the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Beijing Municipal Government, and to serve the national innovation strategy and Beijing's economic and social development needs, on Oct 18, at the 2019 Zhongguancun Forum Major Achievements Release Conference, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Beijing Municipal Government signed a framework agreement to build the Beijing Research Institute of Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine.

Faced with major frontier scientific issues and common key technology needs in the field of stem cell and regenerative medicine, the development orientation and goal of the institute is to become a world-class research institution for stem cell and regenerative medicine through research, discipline integration, and innovation of institutional mechanisms and operating modes. It will contribute to Beijing's development as a national science and technology innovation center.

The Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Beijing Municipal Government will discuss and formulate the development and construction plans of the institute, allocate operational resources, and support its basic and cutting-edge research in technology, especially in stem cells and regenerative medicine. The institute’s guiding principles will be "joint construction, joint management, results sharing, overall planning, and step-by-step implementation", so as to accelerate the transfer, transformation and industrialization of scientific and technological achievements.
