The Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (Beijing E-Town) held a work conference on Dec 27 to review its achievements in 2024 and release a working plan for 2025.
Kong Lei, deputy secretary of the CPC Beijing E-Town Working Committee and director of the Beijing E-Town Management Committee, presented the work report for 2024.
Kong pointed out that the total production value of Beijing E-Town in 2024 is expected to exceed 300 billion yuan ($41.1 billion) for the first time, while fixed asset investment achieved the second 100 billion yuan target.
Kong said the industrial clusters in Beijing E-Town have achieved high-quality development this year. The output value of the integrated circuit industry has exceeded 90 billion yuan for the first time, leading the country in growth rate; the mileage of autonomous driving accounts for more than a quarter of the national total; the number of commercial rocket assembly enterprises accounts for 75 percent of the national total; and the number of national high-tech enterprises has exceeded 2,300, with 155 national-level specialized and new "little giant" enterprises at the forefront of national economic and technological development.
Kong said that Beijing E-Town has been making great efforts at creating a world-class international business environment in 2024. A fund cluster with a total scale exceeding 50 billion yuan has been established, leveraging 200 billion yuan of social capital; 62 new foreign-funded research and development centers have been added, with over 100 new foreign-funded enterprises established, and actual foreign investment utilization has grown by nearly 35 percent year-on-year; the total import and export volume has exceeded 185 billion yuan; nearly 11,000 new employment positions have been developed, with 28,000 new jobs created.
Zhang Qiang, secretary of the CPC Beijing E-Town Working Committee stated that as the only national-level economic development area in the capital, Beijing E-Town is the vanguard of undertaking national strategic emerging industries, the main force leading the city's economic growth, the leader in serving regional coordinated development, and the pioneer in implementing comprehensive reforms.
Zhang emphasized that in 2025, Beijing E-Town will further establish a modern industrial system, create a world-class business environment, build a new city that is conducive to both business and living, and improve the well-being of the people.
Officials from local authority, members of State-owned enterprise leadership teams in Beijing E-Town, and representatives from businesses, residential communities, as well as other public service units attended the conference.
