On October 10, the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center was officially upgraded to the National-Local Co-built Humanoid Robot Innovation Center, signifying that the humanoid robot industry has become an important link in constructing the national modern industrial system, and the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (Beijing E-Town) has a "national team" of the humanoid robots industry.
As a key platform leading the breakthrough and industrial synergy of embodied intelligent technology, the upgraded innovation center will focus on addressing common problems of various innovation entities, promoting the formulation of standards for embodied intelligent industries, enhancing the efficient allocation and integration of innovation chain, industrial chain, and supply chain resources, further reducing enterprise R&D and pilot costs, increasing development efforts for expanding application scenarios, accelerating the maturation and iteration of innovative products during the research and trial process, and promoting the leading application of products globally.
The general-purpose humanoid robot platform "Tiangong"
Since its establishment, the innovation center has gained rapid development through groundbreaking innovations.
In April of this year, it launched the general-purpose humanoid robot platform "Tiangong", achieving the world's first full-size humanoid robot with pure electric drive capable of human-like running. Its globally leading full-body collaborative control and generalized mobility enable the robot to move smoothly on various complex terrains such as slopes, stairs, grass, gravel, and sand.
By August of this year, the upgraded "Tiangong" illuminated the emblem at the World Robot Conference, achieving breakthroughs in embodied perception, interaction, behavior, and other capabilities. This was also the first time that an embodied intelligent robot demonstrated long-range mission capabilities live at a world-class conference opening ceremony.
The humanoid intelligent service robot "Tianyi"
In addition, the innovation center has also released the humanoid intelligent service robot "Tianyi" equipped with a large-scale embodied intelligent emotional model.
Currently, the innovation center is undertaking multiple national-level tasks and collaborations with renowned universities, institutions, and companies along the industrial chain to jointly tackle key common technologies.
The upgrade of the innovation center this time marks the latest achievement in accelerating the layout of the humanoid robot industry in Beijing E-Town. As of now, over a hundred robotics ecosystem enterprises have settled in Beijing E-Town, with an output value of nearly 10 billion yuan ($1.41 billion), accounting for half of the city's robotics industry.
