Domestic key technologies make robots more flexible

How can humanoid robots be endowed with humanlike flexibility? The joints of robots play a crucial role as core components.

Beijing RobStride Technology Co has recently launched a self-developed new product—the Robstride04, a 120N.m integrated joint module.

This module can drive medium-sized biped humanoid robots or full-sized quadruped robots standing 1 meter tall.

To achieve the goals of "high torque, high precision, stable performance, and cost-effectiveness," the RobStride team has begun advancing a prototype design and product commercialization.

During the development process, they conducted numerous experiments, innovating structural processes and adopting integrated molding technology. The product combines the motor body, a planetary reducer (a device to maximize torque reduction) and a driver (dual encoders) into one unit.

The planetary reducer, with its clear advantages in cost, reliability, and controllability in mass production, became the team's preferred direction.

Additionally, the team developed their own driving algorithm to ensure the integrated joint module could better adapt to various robot bodies on the market.

"Now, our integrated joint module Robstride04 is compact, yet capable of providing powerful output and can respond to commands precisely and quickly," said Shao Yuanxin, founder and CEO of RobStride.

The Robstride04 is suitable for a wide range of robots, including humanoid robot bodies, exoskeleton robots and industrial automation scenarios.

Shao said that RobStride established itself in Beijing E-Town because of its industry ecosystem and policies.

The company has experienced rapid growth with the support of rent discounts and policy coordination at the Zhongguancun (Yizhuang) International Robot Industrial Park in Beijing E-Town.

RobStride's first product, a 17N.m integrated high-performance quasi-direct drive joint module, has received over 5,000 intended orders and begun product delivery.

The new product Robstride04 has also received over 1,000 orders, with several hundred units already delivered.
