The 9th National Vietnamese Speaking Competition for College Students and Workshop on Teaching Vietnamese started at Yunnan Nationalities University on Sept 21.
The event was sponsored by the Chinese Association for Non-General Language Education and hosted by Yunnan Nationalities University.
The competition brought together 111 students from 25 universities to showcase their language talent.
This was the third time that YNU sent students to take part in the competition, ever since its School of Foreign Languages set up a Vietnamese language major.
The six YNU participants secured two first-class awards, three second-class awards and one third-class award, breaking the previous record.
