The School of Law at Yunnan University (YNU) hosted the 18th Congress of the Society for Chinese and Japanese Civil and Commercial Laws from Sept 14 to 15.

The congress brought together more than 200 experts and scholars to discuss civil and commercial laws.

The opening ceremony, hosted by Qu Tao, executive vice-president of the Society for Chinese and Japanese Civil and Commercial Laws, was addressed by Liang Huixing, president of the Society for Chinese and Japanese Civil and Commercial Laws, Gao Wei, dean of the School of Law of Yunnan University, and other scholars from Japan and Taiwan. 

The discussion revolved around property laws, laws of obligation, laws of descent, inheritance laws, commercial laws, and legal practices of commercial laws. 

Scholars also discussed current progress on the development of civil laws in China. 

At the closing ceremony, Liang Huixing, who will soon take up her new post as honorary president of the Society for Chinese and Japanese Civil and Commercial Laws, recalled the growth of the society over the past 18 years.
