The four-man Chinese team led by Xiong Gang, associate professor of the School of Physical Education at Yunnan University (YNU), took second place at the 10th FAI World Paragliding Accuracy Championship, which was held in Serbia from Sept 8 to 18.

The event was attended by 131 top paragliders from 28 countries, including Japan, the United States, Canada, Indonesia, Serbia, Czech Republic, and China.

Early in June, Xiong earned a gold medal at the Kazakhstan paragliding world championship. He was YNU’s first world champion.

Last year, Xiong qualified for the Chinese national team due to his extraordinary performance in international competitions.
