Yunnan University (YNU) selected 28 students from a variety of departments to attend the EU-China Summer School hosted by the Center International de Formation Européenne (CIFE) in Greece from Jul 14 to 30.

This program consisted of lectures, visits to places of interest, and cultural activities.

Professors from the University of Athens and the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy delivered a series of lectures on a variety of topics such as the European Union, relations between China and Europe, and refugees in Europe.

YNU delegates also visited a number of important local organizations, such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Greece) and the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation. The most notable place they visited was China COSCO Shipping Group. Delegates experienced the multicultural atmosphere of the company and learned about the Belt and Road Initiative.

During their free time, YNU delegates traveled to some historic resorts in Greece, such as the Athens Acropolis, the Parthenon, and Olympia Site to experience western culture.

YNU students also listened to Greek music and engaged in traditional Chinese cultural activities such as calligraphy, paper-cutting, and folk music with their Greek friends.

George Tzogopoulos, who has directed a CCTV documentary, filmed the program, while Kathimerini, a reputable newspaper in Greece, reported on it.

CIFE, which hosted the program, is a non-profit multinational organization specializing in social science and education. It was founded in 1954 and is now located in Nice, France. Over the past seven years, YNU has been sending students to attend CIFE’s winter school in Germany and summer school in Greece.
