17th SCBA International Symposium held in YNU

The 17th International Symposium of the Society of Chinese Bioscientists in America (SCBA), co-organized by SCBA, Yunnan University (YNU), and the Genetics Society of China (GSC), was held in Kunming, Yunnan province from July 24 to 28. 

Themed around the catchphrase “Bioscience for All, All for Bioscience”, the symposium consists of ten topics that focus on the latest advancements in biomedicine, biodiversity, agriculture, and plant sciences. 

A number of renowned scientists, along with editors-in-chief of some internationally recognized journals, including Cell, Science, and Cell Research, delivered speeches during the forum.

During the opening ceremony on July 24, Lin Wenxun, secretary of the Party committee of YNU, extended a warm welcome to attendees and briefed them on the purpose of the symposium.

Brian Kobilka, winner of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry, delivered a report on bioscience.

Liu Pu, president of SCBA, Zhang Keqin, chairman of the Academic Committee of YNU, and Xue Yongbiao, president of GSC, shared executive responsibilities for the symposium.
