Yunnan University (YNU) held a tai chi sword and boxing competition for retirees in Yunnan province on May 15.

A total of 38 seniors from YNU, Yunnan Normal University, and Yunnan Agricultural University participated in the event.

After a two-hour competition, the team from YNU won first place as it earned the highest overall score. The team from Yunnan Normal University took the top spot in the tai chi sword competition, while the team from Yunnan Agricultural University secured first place in the tai chi boxing competition.

Tai chi is an ancient Chinese tradition that now serves as a form of exercise. It involves a series of movements performed in a slow, focused manner and accompanied by deep breathing.

In addition to regular Tai Chi, there is also the elegant and highly effective Tai Chi Sword, which has long been considered the most difficult form of Tai Chi. The beautiful and flowing Tai Chi Sword form strengthens the body, sharpens the mind, and raises the spirit.
