Education ministry officials inspect YNU institute for textbooks

A five-member delegation from the Ministry of Education visited Yunnan University (YNU) on May 10 to investigate the development of the YNU Institute for Textbooks on Ethnic Education and Management Policy.

The delegation was led by Shen Jiliang, inspector of the Department of Textbooks of the Ministry of Education, and Ge Weiwei, deputy director of the Department of Ethnic Education of the Ministry of Education.

Lin Wenxun, Party secretary of YNU, He Ming, director of the YNU Institute for Textbooks on Ethnic Education and Management Policy, Dong Yifan, director of the Department of Ethnic Education of the Yunnan education authorities, and other YNU representatives attended the meeting with the delegation.

At the meeting, which was chaired by Li Chenyang, vice-president of YNU, Lin said that YNU was honored to become one of the first national research institutes for textbooks. 

YNU’s inclusion on the list created new opportunities for the university to develop its Double First-rate Program, Lin added.

Lin pledged to play to the institute’s advantages and help with the compiling and research of textbooks and the training of professionals. 

Shen briefed attendees on the requirements and overall plan for the national institutes for textbook research, and Li Chenyang then explained YNU’s specific plans for its institute.

Following Li’s report, both Ge and Shen expressed their approval of YNU’s efforts to develop the institute.

Shen stressed that the YNU Institute for Textbooks on Ethnic Education and Management Policy should strive to improve education in minority areas.

The delegation also offered suggestions on how to develop the institute.

After the meeting, the guests visited the YNU Institute for Textbooks on Ethnic Education and Management Policy and the YNU Museum of Anthropology.
