Yunnan University (YNU) held a forum themed around journalism and communication at its Chenggong campus on May 11.

More than 100 graduate students studying at the journalism departments of 29 universities, including Renmin University of China, Communication University of China, Nanjing University, Wuhan University, Sichuan University, and YNU, participated in the forum.

The forum, entitled “Communication and Changes in Daily Life: From the Perspective of New Media”, was divided into nine sub-forums, allowing the young scholars to voice their opinions on the topic.

The forum featured a sub-forum themed around WeChat and life in rural areas. During the discussion, six students introduced their theses to other attendees.

Afterward, lecturers commented on the student presentations and taught them proper research skills.

Several renowned journalism scholars delivered lectures during the event.

Since January, the forum has received 111 papers submitted by students from 33 universities.

Yang Yanping, a master’s student at YNU, won second-place for her paper.
